THE JESUS & MARY CHAIN '21 Singles' 2LP

$62.00

Exploring a vein mined by their heroes The Velvet Underground and The Stooges, Glasgow, Scotland-based alt-rock cult heroes The Jesus And Mary Chain were the link between pure pop and white noise in the '80s-'90s. The band's half-dozen albums, nearly two dozen singles, and riot-inducing live shows (introduced to U.S. audiences via a spot on the '92 Lollapalooza tour) in turn were an inspiration to the next generation of subversives, from My Bloody Valentine to Dinosaur Jr. to The Chemical Brothers. The Jesus And Mary Chain were forged in 1984. Later that year, their seminal debut single "Upside Down" (on Creation) and early live shows made J&MC ovefnight sensations in the U.K. A year later, the band connected with Blanco Y Negro/Warner Bros. and issued the smash single "You Trip Me Up" and a superlative debut album, Psychocandy. J&MC followed with lots more sonic pop experiments on Darklands (1987), Automatic (1989), Honey's Dead (1992), Stoned & Dethroned (1994), and Munki (1998, on Sub Pop). In 1999, the Chain disbanded for good.
