HORROR MY FRIEND 'Stay In, Do Nothing' LP
"Horror My Friend may have taken a while in crafting this beast of a debut record but the wait is most certainly worth it; the Adelaide band has come out guitars thrashing, confident and ambitious – the trio has harnessed some well established post-punk/90’s rock influences in producing a record that isn’t scrappy. It’s aggressive and formidable.....they’re set to make that presence known even more with this album. Hats off." - AU REVIEW 8/10
"Adelaide three-piece Horror My Friend have shown their teeth with explosive live shows for a while now, and their debut record Stay In, Do Nothing is the perfect capture of that frenetic energy. If you dig Pavement, Dinosaur Jr or even newer breeds such as DZ Deathrays, you may have just found your new favourite band." - THE MUSIC 4/5 Stars
Emerging from the sleepy suburbs of Adelaide, Horror My Friend’s approach to noisey, indie-rock is youthful and idiosyncratic. Tapping into the spirit of 90’s college-rock and shoe-gaze the trio (Josh Battersby, Tom Gordon & Sam Kolesnik) break new ground with their raw yet melodic auteurist songwriting, bolstered by frenetic, energetic live performances.
Recorded by Jez Giddings at Melbourne’s Hothouse Audio (Hunting Grounds, The Living End), Richard Bowers at Soundpark and mastered at Studios 301 by Steve Smart (You Am I, Midnight Oil), ‘Stay In, Do Nothing’ sparkles with youthful energy; walking the line between noise, rock and melody with a heavy nod to pioneers like Dinosaur Jr, Pixies and Swervedriver.
