'Three Lens Approach' is the hotly anticipated 2025 long player from Naarm/ Melbourne based SCREENSAVER. Available on Pink or Silver Eco Wax.

There's a notable tension across SCREENSAVER's forthcoming record 'Three Lens Approach'; pushing and pulling between moments of upbeat, heart-on-sleeve tenderness and explosions of frustration and all-out fury. Written over the course of 2024, listeners can find catharsis and camaraderie in the band’s explorations, as the band grapples with the weight of the world throughout the album. “The theme of the album is power,” Krystal Maynard explains, “how we wield it through language and action, how society is affected by the existing power structures, the consequences of the absence of it and how we harness it emotionally and intellectually as individuals, and as the collective."

“Written against the backdrop of genocide in Gaza, the rise of the right, the rollback of human rights, whilst the battle for climate change rages against soaring temperatures and rising sea levels, it’s only natural that these topics are absorbed into the themes of the album. Through societal observation, miniature character portraits, snapshot vignettes of stolen scenes from everyday life/conversations. Some songs are exercises in playing with language, using tropes /phrases to emphasize the absurdity of the way language is twisted to manipulate. Weaved into the lyrical themes is also a general exhaustion with the state of the world, an underlying cynicism, a desire for peace and silence and the ability to tune out.”

Sonically, the band expand their range of synth sounds, adding classic Yamaha and Casio textures to their rich palette, carrying heavy lyrical themes with a driving high-energy rhythm. Tracks ‘Context is Everything’ and ‘Drip Feeding’ see screensaver deviate from traditional song structure, favouring instead a Kosmische-style stream of consciousness; production layered and lush complements of Julian Cue. ‘Upstream’ is immersive and animate, drenched with lush delays and reverb. The rhythm sections of James Beck and Dorian Vary are unrelenting against a beat heavy backbone throughout the album, particularly at their heaviest on ‘Soft Touch’ and ‘Executive Function.’
